DURBIN APOLOGY NOT ACCEPTED

IF IT STEPS LIKE A GOOSE...
Yer old pal Jerky was disappointed to see Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) forced to apologize for telling the truth about what's going on in American military prisons around the world. Sadder still was the total lack of support from Durbin's party as he and his words were being mangled in the gears of a deeply dishonest Republican spin machine. Nobody even bothered to say "they started it."
I'm going to put this as clearly as possible so that even you lurking right-wingers will understand it: Anyone who thinks it's wrong to compare the Bush administration to Nazi Germany fails to understand the nature, history and origins of that particular Beast, and would do well to do some research on the subject. Like Rome, the Nazi death camps weren't built in a day, and just because we haven't reached the Satanic nadir of the New World Order's slippery slope, that doesn't mean we aren't sliding down towards it.
When it comes to labeling the current Republican party as being fascist, a major sticking point for many people is Dubya's obvious and widely-admitted banality, which makes him a poor center around which to construct that hallmark indicator of historical fascism: the Cult of Personality. But perhaps herein lurks the diabolical genius of the Powers That Be. It is precisely because of this banality that those who pay no attention to the political realm -- i.e., the vast majority -- can go on thinking: "Yeah, that Bush; he's a harmless goof!" Meanwhile, liberated from the fleshy bonds that proved the downfall of previous fascist manifestations, the Beast runs rampant.
And so we continue to dig at the roots of our current crisis. Call them what you will -- the Powers That Be, the Establishment, the Elite, the Military-Industrial-Intelligence Complex -- like it or not, they're in charge, now. And they're partisan. They've chosen sides. They dithered for a while after WWII, the metaphorical gamma blast that brought about their collective transformation from splenetic Banner to unstoppable Hulk, but eventually they took the Republican Party for their own. The NWO is now GOP, all the way. And since then, the Democratic Party has become a bonsai tree; pathetic and shrunken, constricted on all sides by an unaccountable, super-governmental power structure to which they have no high-level access, that makes decisions over which they have no oversight or control. It is the bound foot of a Japanese courtesan; twisted, misshapen and useless for anything but ornamental purposes.
So basically, we're on our own.

First off, a public service announcement for the Dirt's highly valued "Silver Fox Brigade". A recall has been issued by Guidant, a pacemaker company that says about 29,000 of their units could short-circuit instead of defibrilating like they're supposed to. So far, two deaths have been blamed on the faulty pacemakers. The devices in question are the VENTAK PRIZM 2 DR (Model 1861) ICDs manufactured on or before April 16, 2002; the CONTAK RENEWAL (Model H135) and CONTAK RENEWAL 2 (Model H155) CRT-Ds manufactured on or before August 26, 2004; and the VENTAK PRIZM AVT, VITALITY AVT, RENEWAL 3 AVT and RENEWAL 4 AVT ICDs (All series numbers). If you've got one of these things inside you, please contact your doc and get it taken care of ASAP.

If it's morally wrong to solicit sex with teenagers -- and, to be clear, I have no argument with this stance -- by what twisted ethical logic, then, does the Pentagon think it's okay to solicit minors to become hired killers for the military/intelligence/industrial complex?

Yer old pal Jerky has a new theory. I think right-wingers want us to use up all the fossil fuels on the planet so that when they eventually start rewriting history to declare that the Earth is only six thousand years old, there will be that much less fossil evidence left lying around to prove them wrong. They've already begun laying the groundwork for this paradigm crunch in Kansas and the Deep South, but the ball won't really get rolling until after their self-fulfilling Apocalypse has wiped the historical and human slates down to a bare minimum of chalky residue.
